Congratulations to our senior netball team who secured two fantastic wins against Dalbeattie last night.
In their last league match of the season, at the beginning of March, Dumfries High School travelled to Dalbeattie to play two senior games against their A and B squads.
Although Dumfries were short on subs, and every player had to play the two full matches without a rest, this did not stop them securing two wins.
The first match was against the A team and ended up being a fairly physical game and very competitive.
At the end of the first half it wasn’t looking good for the Dumfries girls as they were down 6-4, however, after a team talk and some good decision-making from a few key team members they managed to pull it back and ended up winning 13-9.
Player of the match was Hannah who was outstanding as Goal Keeper with an incredible reach and some amazing interceptions.
The second game started when the girls were on a high from their first win and they put on a show for spectators. There was better communication from the Dumfries team and they secured a brilliant 21-9 victory.
Linzi was named player of the match and it was well-deserved as she darted about for the entire two games, relentlessly backing up her team mates and providing encouragement.
Another stand-out performance that is worth mentioning was Eilidh who played out of position, filling in for our Goal Defence. Eilidh played fantastically and you would never have suspected she had never played the position before.
Following the games, the Dumfries High School girls accompanied the Dalbeattie teams for an end of season meal. It was nice for both teams to say farewell to S6 players who will no longer be playing next year.
